The Viking ship Glad is in Simrishamn
The Viking ship Glad av Gillberga from the association Vikingaleden is located at the recreational harbor in Simrishamn. Watch out, this is a unique opportunity only during the anniversary year! The ship is a reconstruction built according to Viking-age construction methods based on a Danish model from around 1123.

The Vikings from the association Vikingaleden show off their Viking ship and it will be possible to try simple Viking crafts and games. The book bus will be on site, loaded with exciting reading on the theme of the Viking Age for all ages and there will be tales from Norse mythology.

Facts about the ship "Glad av Gillberga":
The ship Glad is 17.5 meters, has room for 26 rowers and has a sail of 48 square meters. Since the ship does not weigh more than about 3 tons and has a draft of barely half a meter, it is both easy to sail and fast sailing (measured maximum speed 15-16 knots). It was built using ancient methods in the years 1995-1998 with a Viking ship from Roskilde as a model. Over the years, it has been used for many school oars, but has also been out on numerous sailings around Lake Vänern and the North Sea, with visits to both Denmark and Norway. The visit to Canada in 2000 is the ship's biggest adventure to date.
