Carolines at Christinehof

Skåne's Carolines wear period uniforms, stand guard at the castle entrance, exercise and shoot Swedish ransom with the cannon. Carolinians from all over Sweden join.

Extra gunpowder will be used on Saturday, July 29, which is Carl Piper's birthday. Carl Piper, husband of Christina, was one of Charles XII's closest men and met death as a prisoner of war in Russia.

Visitors are welcome to visit the Carolines' camp on the grass field to the right of the castle, both Friday and Saturday.

Inside the castle is the exhibition The Tsar's Most Precious Prisoner, which tells the story of Carl Piper's fate during the Great Nordic War. In a special room there is the unique field bed in which Carl Piper managed to spend more than 5,000 nights before he was captured in Poltava in 1709.
